  • Established in 1896, JW Hinks is an independent firm of chartered accountants in Edgbaston, Birmingham, offering a comprehensive range of accountancy and business advisory services.

    While our long history has enabled us to build up a wide client base, both in terms of size and nature of business, the partners at JW Hinks are committed to providing a proactive service in a friendly and efficient manner.

    To ensure that our practice continues to provide the best possible service to clients for decades to come, we moved to our current office premises in 2002. These premises, housed in a building that retains its original character, are easily accessible from the motorways and arterial roads of the West Midlands and provide car parking for both clients and staff.

    The firm is committed to keeping its staff up to date on all aspects of business to ensure our clients receive the best advice possible. JW Hinks is an authorised training provider for ICAEW and ACCA students, and two of our current partners were students at the firm.

      Our Service Charge Accounts Department offers a high quality and value for money service for those in the property industry. In the Service Charge Accounts Department we aim to:

    • Payroll

      Operating an in-house payroll team, and keeping up to date with frequently changing regulations, can be a costly burden for many businesses.

      This will be especially true when the Real Time Information (RTI) system – which is currently being piloted – is introduced in April 2013. Through RTI, employers will be required to inform HMRC on-line about tax, NICs and other deductions when or before the payments are made, in other words providing information to HMRC in “Real Time”. This will be monthly or weekly depending upon when the payroll is processed. There will also be a requirement to include details of normal working hours.

      The Government have indicated that all employers will be required to use RTI by October 2013.

      The extra employee resources that would be taken up submitting information to HMRC, and the frequency with which this would need to be done, could prove extremely disruptive and time-consuming for businesses.

      Therefore, they could save significant time and money by outsourcing their payroll to a specialist provider, such as JW Hinks. Our in-house payroll bureau offers a comprehensive administration and processing service for payrolls.

      We carry out all the necessary calculations – including PAYE, national insurance, statutory sick pay, maternity pay and student loan deductions – and prepare either e-payslips or paper payslips. Our service also includes the submission of year end returns to HM Revenue & Customs, ensuring that you stay compliant.

      Consequently, businesses can have the peace of mind that, once the RTI system is implemented, our experience will enable us to fulfil all of HMRC’s requirements.
